About the Artist
Kelly K. Hughes creates vibrant, expressive art inspired by natural forms and luminous colors. Her work explores the experience of co-creating with Nature, often using real twigs, leaves, and flowers as tools during the creative process. Using watercolor techniques, she combines splatters, sprays, wax, masking, and airbrush to express nature’s organic shapes. Her process embraces spontaneity and imperfection, allowing natural materials to guide unexpected color relationships and textures. Watercolor is ideally suited to showcase the freshness and purity of these experiences in rich, vivid color. Through her art, Kelly seeks to share the transformational power of connecting with Nature.
Kelly spent most of her career bridging design, psychology, and technology to create a richer human experience with the digital world. She has a Bachelors and 2 Masters degrees. Kelly is focused on developing her gifts as an artist, believing that now more than ever, connecting with the natural world through creativity and art is a critical part of authentic human expression. Her work is currently available at the QD Gallery in Palo Alto and the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica.
